There is an absurd amount of shenanigans and general asshattery that goes on in restaurants and the serving industry from workers and customers alike. Toast on the Fly was created to document the tribulations and outright ridiculous happenings of a Michigan server.
For obvious reasons the names and places are excluded from this blog but all other details are accurate accounts and rants of living off of tips.
I began serving early in 2009, if you were wondering. That doesn’t make me a bitter, long time employee but it certainly says something about waitressing if by June I have enough to write about here. It’s not the only job I’ve had either; I’ve been a librarian, painter, telecommunications csa, and short order cook. It also isn’t a job I hate though I imagine if I worked in any other restaurant with a different set of people it might be a different story.
